It is so inspiring when we see someone smash the goals they have set for themselves. This is particularly true when it comes to bettering oneself through health and fitness. Gary Fairman is one Brisbane man who has done just that. Gary kick started his weight-loss-transformation in December 2016 after seeing an advertisement for The Doctor’s Kitchen at the Carina Medical & Specialist Centre.
Before starting with The Doctor’s Kitchen, Gary wanted to lose weight and achieve an overall trimmer look. Unfortunately, he fell into an all too common trap – putting in the hard work at the gym but failing to get what he needed when it came to his diet. That’s where The Doctor’s Kitchen came in. By sticking to the Doc’s weight-loss meals which were calorie controlled to Gary’s individual biometrics (and keeping up with his workouts), he was able to see real results, quickly and has kept off the weight.

Gary’s Results Speak for Themselves
Gary has lost an incredible 10 kilograms and reduced his body fat by 5.9 percent. Perhaps more importantly however, he has shaved 20 years off his biological age – from 66 to 46 – well below his chronological age of 60 years. Not only has Gary improved his overall health, he has done so while maintaining his muscle mass and bone density. In fact, Gary’s muscle mass has not changed since he began the Doc’s weight loss meals. It is important to maintain your muscle so that you can maintain a metabolic rate to help control your weight in the long term.
These results are outstanding, and ones that Gary says are making a huge difference in his day-to-day life.
The overall result of being lighter without losing any muscle mass makes a huge difference to my daily routine. I have no trouble sleeping at night and rarely wake up tired,” said Gary.
The changes that he has implemented allow for improvement in resting heart rate, blood pressure, and visual acuity. As well as improving overall mobility, and allowing daily tasks to be performed with ease.
Convenience, and Consistency Are Key
However, the convenience of having tasty, and nutritionally balanced meals on hand has been the catalyst for Gary’s success.
The ease of walking to the refrigerator and within seconds eating a very tasty meal knowing it was within my calorie count is what I have enjoyed the most. The thought of going to the supermarket and buying exact items to make a calorie exact meal was almost impossible for me to maintain,” said Gary.
A sentiment that Dr. Phillip Wuth has experienced first-hand during his work in hospitals around Australia; and that has been reflected through The Doctor’s Kitchen program with its focus on proactive health and long-term lifestyle modification. Not quick fix weight loss that is generally destined to fail in the long term.
“Hospital medicine largely dealt with issues that had developed in people after years of poor lifestyle choices. As I treated more and more people at the end of a long course of largely preventable disease, I was drawn to preventative medicine,” said Dr. Wuth.
Not Just Another Program
Being a part of The Doctor’s Kitchen family, and having regular check-ins with Dr. Phillip Wuth, gave Gary confidence in the program. “After trying so long to lose weight on my own it was refreshing to speak directly with someone who had real answers,” he said. Working hand-in-hand with a medical professional means that any doubt about The Doctor’s Kitchen being ‘just another weight loss program’ can be thrown out of the window.
Our weight loss programs are closely managed by our doctors who place emphasis on fat loss over weight loss. We do not just want you lighter, we want you more healthy for the rest of your life.”
A Resume of Success
Gary isn’t our only success story. Fellow Brisbane-ite Mark Scholz lost an incredible 28.5 kg’s and has seen outstanding health benefits and Don Scali was a Type 2 diabetic whose diabetes has since been reversed with the help of our Doctors. While other individual patients, including radio personalities Bianca Dye (97.3) and Abby Coleman (Hit105), have seen significant reductions in body fat, our Doctors have also assisted patients in the resolution of Type 2 diabetes and impaired glucose intolerance, improvements in hypertension, lipid profiles, lean muscle mass and metabolic syndrome.
