Health fund eligibility

Is the Doctor's prescribed weight loss program covered by private health insurance?

If you have health insurance with a participating health fund you may be eligible for a rebate as part of your policy to help you manage a condition before you start the Doctor's prescribed weight loss program. There is no additional cost to eligible members of participating health funds.

Participating health funds can pay for programs which:

• form part of a health management plan recommended by your GP, AND

 • are provided by a GP who specialises in the recommended program.

What do you need to take with you to your GP appointment?

Download the Health Management Program Benefits Form and take it with you to your consultation with your GP to have them complete it at your initial consultation.

How to make a claim?

Once you have had the GP complete the Health Management Program Benefits Form, we recommend you contact your private health insurer to ask whether you may be eligible and how to make a claim.

How much will you get back?

We recommend that you contact your private health fund to enquire how much you might be eligible for.

For example, with CUA,  to claim anywhere between $100 to $300 odd based on their cover and remaining limits on Wellness benefits.
