BEFORE AND AFTER: Mel Arndt tipped the scales at 107.7kg in March 2021 and as a busy working mother of two young kids that contributed to the weight gain she ‘fell into bad habits with food’, but was determined to lose weight.

A photo taken by Mel's daughter on their family holiday sparked Mel's motivation to change (pictured).
‘I returned from a family holiday at the heaviest I have ever been in many years. I booked an appointment the day after seeing a horrendous photo my daughter had taken’ Mel told The Doctor’s Kitchen Australia.
Mel started her weight loss transformation with Dr Phillip Wuth, her local GP in Brisbane for over 10 years.
Australian Doctor Phillip Wuth and Founder of The Doctor's Kitchen Australia which sets to help change the habits and lives of everyday Australians.
Mel recalls ‘sitting in the Doctor’s surgery a day later I remember begging Dr Phil to help me and asked about my options surgically moving forward.’ Mel told The Doctor’s Kitchen Australia. ‘It was then that as a team we decided to try the Doctor’s Kitchen weight loss program.’
Ready to eat meals around a 1000 calorie plan were sent to Mel each week which includes a fresh variety of healthy foods - such as protein, fresh fruit, vegetables and snacks.
‘The ease that I have found in the ready made meals, which are as a side note delicious, and the support I receive weekly from the Doctor’s Kitchen team is indescribable’ Mel said.
MEL’S DAY ON A PLATE
Mel would eat the meals from The Doctor's approved weight loss meal plan five days a week and prepare her own meals for two days of the week.
'The key is to eat fewer calories than you expend and monitor your vital stats using body composition scales like your body fat and muscle mass,' Dr Wuth said.
Rather than tracking your health through tape measures and ordinary scales, progress is measured through a patient's individual biometrics and body composition results.
'Unlike ordinary scales that record only body weight, the Doctor's bio-impedance scales provides additional data such as body fat, abdominal fat, muscle mass and basal metabolic rate (BMR) (the number of calories your body burns at rest),' Dr Wuth said.
'New research has found that these are the numbers that matter and can be the key to losing weight and keeping it off.' Dr Wuth told The Doctor’s Kitchen Australia.

The dedication paid off and after only eight weeks with regular fortnightly check ins with her Doctor, Mel lost a staggering 10kgs.
‘My life was well and truly changed.’ Mel told The Doctor’s Kitchen Australia.
Alongside the calorie-controlled meals, Mel also followed the daily at-home resistance-based movements like squats and lunges that aims to maintain her muscle and boost her metabolism. ‘Working out at home using the realistic daily exercise plan is also a plus here and takes me no longer than 10 min per day which is ideal for a young working mum’ Mel said.

Mel tracked her vital statistics including body fat and muscle mass using special bio-impedance composition scales used as part of the Doctor’s weight loss program and monitored her progress by writing down how far she’d come.

‘I have recommended the program to many friends now who are have reached out to me - some who are half the size and still have had similar success’ Mel confessed to The Doctor’s Kitchen Australia.
Mel’s weight loss has made an incredible difference to her life. Today, Mel sits at 98.5kg as she feels healthier, more confident and beaming with energy.
‘I feel like sometimes all you need to do is decide to make the change and I have realised that looking back I’m not just doing this for me, I’m doing it for my beautiful children who need me to be the best I can be every day. That’s what keeps me going’ Mel told The Doctor’s Kitchen Australia.
Mel’s transformation should inspire you to create your own success story with your weight and health.
